Stick Up Kids 2025 released about a month ago. It was super cool to work with Don Dee, he’s a cool cat. Shout out to the god. Blak Madeen has recently recorded some extremely dope raps over a few of my.beats, seems like we are in the studio a lot lately so you’ll see more releases from me, Al and Blak Madeen throughout the rest of the year. Aside from all the general shit the world is turning into and other terribleness, the (Le) Tour de France is happening, which is a great escape for me. We are currently in the 3rd week of the race. I love watching this every year (when I’m able). Most years I don’t really care who wins, I get into the strategy of the teams and the riders and the different points races. The sprints are always fun and the mountain stages are epic of course. There’s never enough footage of these dudes on the descent. Watching them haul ass down a narrow mountain pass is some wild ass shit. The scenery is a huge draw too.
I got into it in the early 00’s, right before it really blew up in the US. I worked as a cook, nights, so the tour would be on all day and it was just something I would have on in the background while working on beats and getting ready before work. I think it would be on like ESPN2 or something, before they monetized the shit out of it. I saw some legendary races but became a little jaded, probably like a lot of people, after the whole Lance thing. I fell off paying attention for a while but it’s something me and my wife enjoy watching together for the past however many years. We paid $8 for a month of Peacock+ and it’s been well worth it. Shout out to Bob Roll and Phil Liggett.

The other day I posted (bsky: @kanemajor.net) about how Nelson George made comparison between crack rap tales and western movies.
I enjoy a good western now and again, just like I indulge in the occasional crack/coke rap if I am being honest. I love an appreciate the classics of both. So yeah, Mr. George went on with the analogy further, comparing BIG to John Wayne and Jay-Z to Eastwood, with Clipse as Kevin Costner. I think part of the reason it resonated with me is because my old man was a big fan of westerns. He would always be up early on a Sunday watching the classics all morning. It stings a little cause I would have loved to bounce this analogy off him, see what he’d say. 
He passed in ’08 but he was a huge Tupac fan in his later years, he was heavy into the Outlawz, specifically because Pac and them dudes reminded him of that whole cowboy/outlaw aesthetic. Fond memories of me swinging by the crib randomly to visit, only to find the windows wide open and the system banging out some ambitionz az a ridah or some shit.

Steg G - Bit of a Scottish hip hop legend. Shout to this guy here. Always dropping some dope shit you’ve not heard and plenty of dope new shit you have heard. He has a show on Sunny G Radio, a wonderful community based radio station in the Govan area of Glasgow, Scotland.

Delaina Sepko also DJ’s there and she is the best. She has turned me on to so much dope shit if would not be aware of. Her show on Sunny G is Wednesdays (2nd Wednesday of the month I think?) ot 3pm EST. You can stream live on their website (https://www.sunnyg.org/) or live on mixcloud with the added bonus of the video feed. She usually has some dope in-studio guests as well.
