What up hip hop
Peace and blessings going out to everyone on this… Sunday. It’s nice out over here, may not be where you are.
As is usual, things are getting wild out here. You might remember I am on the board of trustees at my local library. The pitchforks have been OUT and the bigots have been stirring up a lot of sh!t on and off-line. It’s a lot of small town inside baseball but the point I’m getting at is: This is turning into another (what feels like full-time) job. It will calm down soon though (prob not but we’ll see).
So that, along with my “real” job and this music have been putting me through it as of late. Grateful for my family who have been exceptionally supportive throughout.
On to the good stuff though:
New single is dropping Friday - Exit Wounds. Raw Raps from one of Boston’s finest. Al-J spitting gritty rhymes over hard hitting production by yours truly.
Special for you all, I have attached the mp3 below but you can buy it on the website now (support is soooo appreciated).
We recorded this joint a bit ago and we had no immediate ideas for the chorus. But me and Al were building on it one nite and he just said, “I want some news clips…” So I got to work. Tried to capture vibe of chaos, was probably subconsciously thinking of tracks like GZA - Investigative Reports. All the samples were taken from the WCVB archives, a local Boston news channel. It’s a flipping gold mine.
I made a visualizer to be released Friday as well but we are also putting together an official music video soon.
Just finished up the video for Blak Madeen - Grab Your Shield which will be the first song on their new album (Cue Beastie Boys - Jimmy James). Real excited to post it but I gotta coordinate with SpitSlam on that one.
More good news: We’ve been working on getting a verse from an MC that I really respect and we finally got the stems back the other day. Can’t say more but I’ll be in the studio Monday to mix the track down. Super psyched for that, you will def hear about it.
I think that about covers it. Be sure to share the track, cop it if you can. It’s up on bandcamp now as well.
We got more tracks in the pipeline, should be able to release about one every 6 weeks or so throughout the summer, that is the plan anyway.
Big thanks go out to everyone that likes, shares and comments, every little bit counts. Love and respect I’ll check in soon.
Peace
